Women's History Month 2025

FWPS Celebrates Women's History

Federal Way Public Schools is excited to celebrate Women's History Month this month! We’re joining alongside other celebrations nationwide with activities throughout our schools that showcase the contributions and lives of women throughout history.

Students will have activities involved in Women’s History Month including assemblies where they’ll learn about female trailblazers, art projects to engage them, scholar works and assignments that bring to light women’s achievements, and more.

At FWPS, our commitment to empowering women extends beyond a single month. We believe in the limitless potential of every scholar, regardless of race, class, background, or identity. We’re dedicated to creating an environment where all students can thrive and achieve their dreams.

Celebrating women is an integral part of our curriculum year-round, inspiring our students to break barriers and make their own mark on the world.

Celebrate Women's History Month Through Literature & National Reading Month

Women’s History Month is a time to honor the incredible contributions of women across time. This month also aligns with National Reading Month, making it the perfect opportunity to explore stories that highlight the resilience, creativity, and achievements of women throughout generations and cultures.

Through the FWPS National Reading Month Challenge, scholars are encouraged to dive into books that amplify diverse voices, including those of women who have shaped history. The King County Library System (KCLS) offers a curated book list featuring activists, scientists, artists, and more—ensuring that readers can explore a range of perspectives. These stories educate, empower, and inspire, providing insight into the challenges women have overcome and the progress still being made.

FWPS is committed to fostering a love of reading and ensuring scholars see themselves in their education. By engaging with literature that celebrates women's achievements, scholars deepen their understanding of history while building literacy skills that will support their success. Join us in celebrating Women's History Month and National Reading Month by exploring these powerful stories!
